In non-league action January 8, Lincoln County, one of the top 2A girls’ teams, took on one of the top 1A teams, Mountain View and came away with a 63-53 victory. The Lady Lynx got several solid contributions, including Jennifer Lesicka’s 17 points, Morgan Christian’s 10 points and 10 rebounds, Marrisa Smerek’s 15 points and nine assists, and five steals from Kori Gloeckner.

Ellie Markwardt of Mountain View was the high scorer for the game with 26 points.

On the boy’s side, Lincoln County jumped out to a 13-0 lead on Mountain View and never had to look back, coasting to a 78-59 win. Chris Shinkle scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the first quarter for Lincoln (11-5). Kevin Hannig contributed 15 points, Chris Bernal added 12 and Dantley Walker had 10.

Mountain View (7-9) was led by Justin Anderson with 14. Courtland LaBeouf, Max Chapple and Brandon each added 11 points.

On January 2, the Lincoln girls took their first lead of the game against visiting Enterprise, with 11 seconds remaining but lost it and the game when Enterprise’s Aubrey Green hit a 3-pointer with .06 seconds left to nail down a 58-56 win. Marrisa Smerek and Jennifer Lesicka both finished with 20 points for Lincoln (5-12). Jenifer also had six 3-pointers.

On Jan. 7, the Lady Lynx scored a close 50-44 win over White Pine in their second league game of the season. Kori Gloeckner had a triple-double, 10 points, 10 steals and 10 assists. Jennifer Lesicka was the leading scorer with 20 points. Marrisa Smerek pulled down 17 rebounds to go with her 14 points. Morgan Christian had 13 rebounds.

Also, the Lincoln County boys took a 74-62 road win at White Pine Jan. 7.

The Lynx boys and girls teams both travel to Moapa Valley this Friday for another non-league matchup.
