PVHS boys lose to Mountain View
By Dave Maxwell
Brandon Carr found himself wide open for an easy lay in with only 12 seconds remaining to give Mountain View their first lead since the first quarter and the Saints upset Alamo 58-56 on January 11.
Coach Ray LeBeouf said it was an encouraging win for his young team (8-9) because they have not yet shown the necessary consistency in a full game.
Freshman Justyn Anderson found his long-range game as he hit a game-high 27 points including six three-pointers, half of them in the fourth quarter.
“We didn’t rotate well defensively on (Anderson), said Panther coach Brian Higbee. “He really shot well.”
At the same time, the Panthers, who had a 45-40 lead going into the fourth quarter, but then missed many opportunities to score close in and were outpointed in the final period 19-11. “You can only miss so many easy shots,” said Higbee. “Sooner or later, that lead is gone. It comes down to concentration and being ready to play.” Higbee added, “Our league is tough. Every night you have to come ready to play.”
Brady Whipple led Alamo with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Hatch had 14 points and Ken Turley added 12.
