Lincoln County was one of twelve teams participating in the Milford, Utah tournament January 19. Moapa Valley was the only other Nevada team at the tournament. Lincoln Coach, Mason Stackhouse, said Mauri Escobedo placed third in the 112-lbs., Zack Hunt was fourth at 130-lbs., Will Miller was third in the JV 140-lbs. class, and Jake Jones took third place in the JV 130-lbs. class.
Alamo took part in the Duals in the Desert at Indian Springs Jan. 18-19 and placed fourth overall among the 17 teams invited, including a number of 4A schools. Jenson Jones was first place at 112-lbs. and voted “Outstanding wrestler.” Dane Mulliner was first at 125-lbs., Trey Turley, third at 103-lbs., Nathan Whipple, third at 160-lbs., and Ike Spencer, third at 189-lbs.
This weekend, January 25-26, Lincoln County and PVHS both compete with all the other league teams in the league duals at Laughlin. Stackhouse said the way the tournament works is that each man wrestles the other man in his weight class from every other school, a possibility of nine matches.
The 1A/2A Southern Regionals, the qualification matches for state, are to be held this year at Pahranagat Valley High February 1-2.
