Obituary Notice
for
Rose Darlene Ussin Rowan
November 02, 1911 – February 12, 2007

Our cute little mom Rose Rowan has left us today, Monday, February 12th, to reunite with her husband, mother, father, brother as well as numerous close friends. She was 95. Rose, also known to many as Nana, Susie and Rosina, is survived by her 2 children Judy (Bob) Clausing and Donnie (Charlene) Rowan, by her six grandchildren Lori, Susie, Jennifer, Chris, Matt and Vanessa, by 14 great grandchildren as well as her sister Betty (Archie) Vap and brother Jim.
She is preceded in death by her grand daughter Gina, who died from cancer in 2002 and her brother Arthur who died in a drowning accident when Rose was only 7.
Rose was born in Elkhorn, Montana to James and Pierina Ussin on November 2, 1911. They later moved to Salt Lake City for a short period of time before settling in Pioche, Nevada. It was there her mother met Joseph Colombo.
Rose along with her mother and stepfather Joseph, opened The Shamrock Club in Caliente, Nevada. In 1933 after a brief courtship Rose married Don E. Rowan. Don became the mayor of Caliente and as the mayor's wife Rose aided his political endeavors. She was also very active in the Catholic church, the PTA and many other civic organizations. Rose loved her home and yard and was very proud of her finely manicured garden. Her famous cooking recipes, having been handed down from her mother, are now enjoyed by her grandchildren. Rose spent the last 13 years in Bountiful, Utah at a lovely senior citizen home, where she had many friends. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents at The Heritage Place for their kindness, service and years of support. You've been wonderful. A viewing will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary in Caliente, Nevada, Friday, February 16th from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Funeral services will be held at Holy Child Catholic Church in Caliente, Nevada, Saturday, February 17th at 10:00am. Graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holy Child Catholic Church in Caliente NV. 89008
