Local Teams Place Second in Regional Playoffs

Alamo and Lincoln County boys and girls basketball teams participated in the Southern 1A and 2A Regional tournaments last weekend in Las Vegas. The Alamo girls and both Lincoln County teams advance to the state tournament this coming weekend in Reno.

However, each of them will go as the #2 seed from the South, because each lost in the regional finals, Alamo girls to Mountain View and Lincoln County to Needles, both boys and girls.

Mountain View beat PVHS in the girls’ championship 39-30. Needles beat Lincoln County boys in the finals 67-54 and 59-49 in the girls’ championship.

This week in Reno, the Alamo girls will play defending state champion Owyhee in the semi-finals Friday at 6:20 pm at Spanish Springs High School. Meanwhile, the Lincoln County girls play Battle Mountain at North Valleys High School at 6:20. The boys follow at 8:20 against Right of Passage. The state championship games will be played on Saturday at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno.
