Walker and Hannig Lead Lynx Basketball

Kevin Hannig of Lincoln County High School was named the State 2A Boys Co-MVP, along with Darra Russell for Needles for 2007-2008, and was joined by teammates on the 2A All-State Team as announced by NevadaPrep.com.
Hannig and Dantley Walker were selected to First Team All-State and Chris Shinkle was named to Second Team All-State
Walker, Shinkle and Hannig were all named to the 2A Southern League First Team while Chris Bernal and Eric Rippetoe were both named the 2A Southern League Second Team. All were instrumental in leading the Lynx to the 2A State Title, their first since 2000.
Team highlights for the season included Dantley Walker being the only freshman on the All-State team. Walker was the Lynx lead scorer (19.5 points per game) and he led the team in assists as well. Eric Rippetoe and Chris Bernal were the leading rebounders, both at 10 plus per game. Kevin Hannig was second in assists and Shinkle was the teams’ second lead scorer.
Walker’s 39-point effort at Needles February 8 is a Lincoln County boy’s school record. He also set another school record making 89 three-point shots. Walker scored 30 or more points in four games during the season. Chris Shinkle scored 34 against Trinity Nov. 29.
