Alamo to Hold Half-Marathon
By Dave Maxwell, Staff Writer
The Town of Alamo is holding a half-marathon on Saturday, April 19 starting at 8:00 a.m. Two other races will be held at the same time, a 4-mile run and the Children’s 1-mile race.
Starting point for each race will be at Windmill Ridge, just north of Alamo. Entrance fees will be $45 for the half-marathon, $30 for the 4-mile and $15 for the Children’s 1-mile. All proceeds will go toward the Pahranagat Valley High School track team to raise money for new facilities. The entry fee also includes tickets to the Country Barbecue of roast beef, potatoes, corn, salad, rolls and dessert, catered by Windmill Ridge following the races.
Race Director Heidi Leavitt said, “If you are aware of the Alamo landscape, you’ll know that this will be a bit of an adventure course with several rolling hills and some dirt roads on the half.” The shorter races will be on paved surfaces.
To register, or for more information, logon to www.Active.com, enter Search for Alamo’s Country Race or contact Heidi Leavitt at heidi@lcturbonet.com or call her cell phone 702-370-8482. Entry deadline is April 17.
