Lincoln County Softball Rolls Up Round Mountain
By Dave Maxwell, Staff Writer
Playing mostly younger, inexperienced players, the Lynx girls softball team had an easy time of it with visiting Round Mountain on March 25. Coach Pat Kelly said the scores were 15-1 and 12-2.
Kelly said the most interesting game was during Spring Break when the Lynx played at Enterprise, Utah and came away with a 3-1 victory. Camille Sonnenberg struck out 11 and walked only two. Beth Pearson contributed a couple of timely hits, he said, and did a “super job behind the plate.”
Kelly said Lincoln jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and Sonnenberg limited Enterprise to just one run on a solo homer.
Lincoln played at Dixie High School in St. George on March 26 and at Mountain View in Las Vegas on March 28. They play at Alamo on April 1.
The baseball team won easily at Henderson International on March 25 with a 19-1 score. The game was called after five innings under the 10-run rule. “We just played really good,” said Coach Dan Lloyd. “Defensively we played really solid and we looked extremely good.”
The JV and varsity boys play at Alamo on April 1.
