Sheriff’s Deputies Recover Stolen Vehicle after Chase

By Dave Maxwell, Staff Writer

A tip from Las Vegas Metro Police led Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies to recover a stolen vehicle and arrest the driver.

Deputy Derrick Foremaster said on March 21 the Pioche Dispatch Center received information from LV Metro that a stolen 1995 Ford Winstar van was believed to be in Lincoln County. Foremaster said he and Deputy Tyrell Walch located the vehicle at the Alamo Truck Stop and waited for the driver to leave. Foremaster said the driver attempted to flee by going north and drove off the west side dirt shoulder and onto Old Sharp Lane and tried to hide behind a haystack. The officers were not fooled and cornered the man, a male in his mid 30’s, in the vehicle and made the arrest without incident.

The man’s name was not given, but Foremaster said he was using an expired Texas driver’s license. He was booked into the Lincoln County Detention Center on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, fictitious license registration, no proof of insurance, no front license plate and no valid driver’s license.
