Alamo Raises Sewer Rates
By Dave Maxwell, Staff Writer
Monthly rates for sewer hookups in Alamo residences are going up three dollars a year for the next four years. A notice in the June residential sewer bills advised customers that rates would jump from $18.50 to $21.50 beginning July 1, 2008. Thereafter, each July in 2009, 2010, and 2011, the rate would go up another three dollars.
Water rates for structures with one-inch or larger meters will see an increase in their monthly base meter rates rise over the next five years depending on the size of the line that serves their residence or business. Rates for a 3/4-inch water meter will not be raised at all. Most residences in Alamo use the 3/4-inch meters.
Rates for a 1-inch meter will see a yearly rise of $2.20 a month for five years (2013). Those with 1 1/2-inch meters, mostly businesses, will have a yearly rise of $4.40 a month for five years. A 2-inch meter will rise by $10.20 each year for the next five years also. Currently there are no ratepayers with meters larger than 2 inches in Alamo
The notice also stated, “Rate increases for existing customers will continue until all customers are paying the same Monthly Base Meter rate.”
