BizMobile Coming to Caliente on Rural Nevada Tour

By Dave Maxwell

This month tax, global trade and incorporation experts will once again board the State’s small business ambassador on wheels – the Nevada BizMobile – for a four-day whistle stop tour of rural areas in the state. These experts will join representatives from the Nevada Small Business Development Centers with the goal of assisting entrepreneurs grow their businesses and provide a running start for those rural residents who want to launch a new business.

The tour includes stops in Elko, Caliente, Hawthorne and Yerington. In each of the towns the BizMobile will unload its resources and set up a business expo for the rural business owners and entrepreneurs. The bus tour is a cooperative effort between the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology and more than a dozen other agencies. It is modeled after the successful “Entrepreneur Expo” held last March and the inaugural BizMobile tour held in June, 2007.

Tim Rubald, executive director of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, said, “If we can help small businesses succeed, then we will have helped the entire Nevada economy succeed. This BizMobile tour will give individuals an opportunity to talk one-on-one with people who can provide the expert advice and assistance that business owners, or soon to be business owners, need to succeed.”

The free workshop will be in Caliente on Tuesday, Sept. 11th from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Caliente Youth Center.

The BizMobile will have many experts who can help jump-start entrepreneurial ventures and provide advice on virtually every facet of starting and running a business. Among the organizations and programs that are available to business owners will be the NCED Procurement Outreach Program, which teaches business owners how they can take advantage of certain government contracts. Another NCED division on hand will be Global Trade, which has helped dozens of Nevada businesses take their merchandise to a global market.

“Anyone who sees the bus will know we’re on a mission to grow business in the Silver State,” Rubald explained. “Based on the success of the last tour, we are excited to give our help and resources to more of our rural businesses.”
