County Commissioner Wade Poulsen reported at the Alamo Town Board meeting Tuesday night that the BLM appraisal of Parcel A in the Alamo Industrial Park had been received. He said the land was appraised at $3001 per acre. This clears the last hurdle for BLM to conduct a direct sale of Parcel A to Lincoln County for an expected price of $651,217.
However, the County only needs to buy the amount of land they feel they need at the time, not the full 217 acres. Steel Tech Incorporation of Corona, CA, has said they want to buy about 24 acres of that land from the County on which to put an expansion plant for their steel materials manufacturing business. The County is required though to sell the 24 acres to Steel Tech for the same $3001 per acre.
The County has $250,000 of grant money from the Nevada Economic Development Fund for purchasing land in Parcel A. In the future, as other businesses become interested in buying land in Parcel A on which to build, they will sign an intent-to-purchase agreement and the County can use that money to then purchase additional acres to sell to the interested party.
BLM has scheduled the direct closed sale of the land to the County for October 16 and the competitive bid sale of lands in Parcel B for November 26.
County Commissioner Chairman Ronda Hornbeck said that the Commission has not yet received a copy of the BLM appraisal document.
