New Impact Rates for Caliente

Costs of new construction impacts on systems maintained by the City of Caliente will increase in January. At the regular City Council meeting September 20, Council members raised new commercial and residential construction hookups for electrical and water from $1,000 to $2,500 plus $100 extra in commercial units such as kitchens and bathrooms, and in Laundromat $50 for each washing machine required.

Sewer rates for residential and commercial also go up to $2500 when the new rates take effect January 1, 2008. Plus $100 in each additional commercial unit and $50 for laundry machines requiring a drain.

Impact fees will increase with meter size. Three-quarter inch and 1 inch are $2500, but it jumps to $7,000 for a 1½ inch and $11,000 for a 2-inch line. The fee schedule for larger size lines can be obtained from City Hall.
