Jason Bleak, Grover C. Dils Hospital administrator explained the desert type landscaping planned for the new clinic building in Alamo. Appearing at the Alamo Town Board meeting last Tuesday, Bleak said the landscaping will be in keeping with what is around the hospital and clinic buildings in Caliente. “Shrubs, bushes, and trees, and a paved parking lot” he said.
The ground around the clinic is going to be graded again. “It’s not in its final form,” he said. The building itself he said is going to be dressed up more and made to look similar to the ones in Caliente. “The building can also be expanded,” he said, “so that as business continues to grow within the town, we can keep up with future needs.” Bleak said, long range plans include someday having a full-time doctor in Alamo.
Issues such as getting water to the shrubbery and the bridge going over the irrigation culvert are also being worked out. The old clinic building will be removed, but the manner in which it is removed has not been decided upon. It might even be offered to the Pahranagat Volunteer Fire Department to be burned for a training exercise as has happened with other structures in town. He said it was offered on the open market to anyone who wanted it, but had no takers.
He reported that as the landscaping is being planned, it is his thinking to have a maintenance man from Caliente come to Alamo at least one day a week to work on the grounds and the facility. Alamo does have a maintenance man, Dee Smith, whom the Board said could be of additional help and provide other ideas.
