New PA Hired for Alamo Clinic
By Dave Maxwell
Grover Dils Hospital Administrator Jason Bleak reported to members of the Alamo Town Board Tuesday night that a new PA has been hired for the new Clinic in Alamo.
Brian Starks, a recent graduate of the Physicians Assistant School at the University of Washington, will work mostly at the Alamo Clinic but also do emergency room coverage at the hospital in Caliente. He has already spent some time as a student working in Caliente under Dr. Katschke and Mark Wilbur, and is familiar with the system and rural medicine.
Starks is currently completing his board examinations and will have to then go through the licensing process in the state of Nevada. “As soon as he is licensed, Bleak said, “he’ll be starting.” However, the process usually takes three months or more, so Bleak thinks it might be December or January before Starks is actually at the clinic. “With Brian,” he said, “we’re planning to have the clinic open at least three to four days a week, and one day helping us at the hospital. We’re working out a schedule that Dr. Katschke or one of our physicians could come down for another day during the week.”
“He’s very excited about coming to Alamo, Bleak said, “He has a place to live in town and has moved some of his stuff in and is ready to participate in this.”
