Pahranagat Valley Elementary and Middle School Principal, as well as PVHS football coach, Ken Higbee earned his doctorate in Sports Education Leadership last Friday from UNLV.
Having passed his comprehensive tests last week, he has officially earned the advanced degree, but still needs to complete and submit his dissertation.
“Sports Education Leadership,” Higbee said, “involves work in educational administration, sports administration, as well as teaching physical education classes.”
Higbee, 40, is the first teacher in the Pahranagat Valley school system to receive his doctorate while also serving as a teacher or administrator. One or two others in the past have held doctorates, but earned them prior to coming to Alamo.
Ken is the son of Vaughn and Arda Higbee and grandson of Joe and Ev Higbee, all of Alamo.
Lincoln County High School Principal, Craig Babcock, is the only other person in the School District who also holds a doctorate.
