BLM Accepting Sealed Bids for Public Lands Near Alamo for Housing Development

By Dave Maxwell

The Bureau of Land Management is accepting sealed bids from the public for 159 acres of BLM managed public land in the area of the Alamo Industrial Park. The acreage is commonly referred to as “Parcel B.” Sealed bids will be accepted until the close of business on Wednesday, November 21. Bids received below the appraised fair market value (FMV), which has been set at $398,000, will not be accepted. Bids should be mailed to the BLM Las Vegas Field Office, 4701 Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV, 89130.

An oral competitive sale is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, at the Rapport Executive Retreat, at 1 JFDI Way in Alamo. Oral bidding will begin at the FMV or highest sealed bid.

The sale complies with the Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act (FLTFA). A portion of the proceeds will be paid to the state and the remainder will be deposited in the Federal Land Disposal Account for acquisition of in-holdings or other such lands in Nevada.

On November 5, the BLM offered Lincoln County 228.25 acres of adjacent public land for use as an Industrial Park (Parcel A). The county-proposed park will contain light industry and manufacturing, and will generate job opportunities, enhancing Alamo’s economic growth. The direct sale to the County complied with FLTFA.

Under the county proposal the BLM, through competitive sales, will later offer two additional parcels (C & D) of adjacent public lands for residential and commercial development. The 194 and 285 acre parcels will be offered for sale under authority of the Lincoln County Conservation, Recreational, and Development Act upon completion of the Ely Resource Management Plan.
