Obituary Notice
for
Nevada Taylor
January 20, 1931 - November 10, 2007

My mother, Nevada Taylor was born January 20, 1931 to James D. and LaRena Fisher in Castleton near Pioche. Nevada passed away on November 10, 2007 in Grover D. Dils Medical Center where she resided in the long-term care unit for the last year. Nevada was the first child of James D. and LaRena Fisher followed a couple years later by her brother Mason James Fisher who preceded her in death by approximately 11 years. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at G. C. Dils Medical Center for the excellent care provided to my mother during her last year on this planet.

My grand- parents, Mom and I moved from Las Vegas to Caliente in 1960 where my grandpa was the TV repairman for Lincoln County for the next several years. Not long after arriving in Caliente Mom went to work for the school district as a secretary. She worked for the Principal, Al Hastings, at Caliente Elementary School and worked there for a few years until the school Superintendent, Pres Price, hired her to work as a secretary at Lincoln County High School.

Mom always worked as a secretary for as long as I can remember. She worked for a title company in Las Vegas during my teenage years. In 1970, she accepted the position of administrative secretary for the Governor of the State of Nevada when Mike O'Callaghan was elected. She worked for the Governor for the next 7+ years. Just before Governor O'Callaghan's last term of office ended, she took a job working for the State of Nevada Budget Director, Howard Barrett. She worked in this position until her retirement in August of 1983.

I remember that mom was always very creative. She crocheted just about anything…doilies, Christmas ornaments, afghans, sweaters, etc. She taught my grandmother to crochet many years ago and between the two of them, they were always working on something for someone. She was also very good with any kind of craft and hardly a year went by that she didn't send my family something that she had made.

After Mason passed away in 1996 mom moved to Arizona to be near Lily and I. She stayed nearby for the next several years and when her health started to decline she moved back to Panaca and remained there the next couple years.

In 2004 she came up to Idaho and stayed with Lily and I and Jonathan until she could no longer be cared for at home. When we moved back to Nevada we brought her back so she could spend the rest of her days in the care center in Caliente. Mom always considered Lincoln County to be home.

I would like to offer my heart-felt thanks to all who attended the services for Mom in Panaca. I regret that I couldn't stay longer to visit with you all.
