Alamo Irrigation Pipeline Project Going Again

The pipeline is moving again. Picking up from where they left off earlier this year, the Alamo Irrigation Company is laying new baby blue pipe in the open channel that has served the irrigation needs of Alamo for many years. Cleo Connell said they had to wait until the irrigation season ended before they could start laying pipe again. He said the plans are to go through Alamo to just south of Theresa Court and into the Alamo flood channel.

In two places, construction workers had to remove bridges that went over the cement channel. One was from 1st West Street that went across a set of old railroad ties to the Alamo Clinic. The other was the entrance to the Alamo Annex. It both cases the channel was too shallow and the pipe would not fit under the existing bridge. At present, both of those entrances are blocked off.
